The sale will offer locally grown perennials, shrubs and herbs from the gardens of club members and the community. to noon, Ellsworth McAfee Park, Northborough.

Two hours was about enough time to see the three floors, also with a bit of time to just sit on the stone benches in the cloister-like walkway and enjoy watching the play of light on the flowers in the central yard.Sponsored by the Northborough Garden Club, the plant sale will be held Saturday, June 3, 8 am.

Check-in was quick, and the cloakroom was once more a handy place to leave all but essentials as we walked through the house.Īs before, we didn't use audio guides, but just referred to the printed guide and looked up the room descriptions online, since it is the house and not so much the art which we were most interested in seeing. No sweat at all on this fine Friday in May.
#THINGS TO DO THIS WEEKEND IN MA HOW TO#
We'd learned how to get around last time, so this visit we pulled up in front of the entrance, let out the person in our party who was mobility-impaired, and then we drove over the parking garage by the Museum of Fine Arts and then easily walked the 300 yards back to the ISG. Our visit this time was in late morning, and the ISG was quite crowded, including even one or two school groups. The palace's central courtyard and its lovely flowers, the stately rooms, the eclectic design, the portraits of Gardner scattered throughout to remind one that a real person once lived here - all of these still imbue the house with an attractiveness that remains fresh. We'd last visited the Isabella Stewart Gardner (ISG) museum in September of 2022 (and reviewed it here then), and I wanted to see if it would still keep my interest with a second visit. All staffers we encountered were very friendly and helpful We enjoyed a good lunch in the cafe and were impressed with the stunning views of sailboats, etc.

This is a missed opportunity as far as we are concerned. At the LBJ Library they had a large amount of information presented on Lady Bird and her contributions. I would have liked to see even more in depth coverage of how Jackie had a tremendous impact on JFK’s campaign and success as a president. We visited the LBJ Presidential Library at the end of last year and felt it had even more material than the JFK. It was interesting to see how the precinct counts were manually tracked back then.Īlthough the material touching on race relations was well done, we felt that there would have been the potential to present even more. This seems to be a lost art since Trump came on the scene! It was also fascinating to see how the southern states were democratic at that time- prior to the onset of race related white conservatism. The debates from this time period were so much more civilized and both parties conducted themselves in a “ presidential” manner. We were thoroughly engaged in the section covering the election. The orientation video and the Cuban Missile Crises video were particularly impactful. We would recommend allowing about 2 1/2 to 3 hours if you like to see and read all the material offered.

My husband, young adult daughter and I enjoyed touring this site.
